Award winning Ard Bia is thriving and is considered by many to be one of the best restaurants in Galway. Located in Spanish Arch, Galway city, this restaurant is well known for the consistent quality of its gorgeous dishes, including roast beetroot risotto topped with St. Tola’s goat cheese and Swiss chard, and roast breast of free-range duck with warm almond couscous and a mandarin salad. Only local and seasonal ingredients are used to create this restaurant’s menu. Upstairs, a recently opened gallery exhibits artwork, serving as a point of conversation over a spot of lunch.
The Oyster Grill restaurant, beside Eyre Square, is a must visit when in Galway. Highlights of the menu include wild forest mushroom risotto with goat’s cheese and ginger, a 10oz fillet of carpet bag steak stuffed with oysters, confit of duck leg with potato and apple cake, and free range breast of chicken with fresh sage, wrapped in Parma ham. Diners to this newly refurbished establishment can choose their own lobsters or shellfish from the restaurant’s oyster tank.
